***** UPDATED SEPTEMBER 18, 2023 - see the final review at the end. ***** Please stay away from this car dealership. They don't honor their 18 month 40k km guarantee, will not accept a return for a faulty car and they treat foreigners with complete disrespect. Every few months, my wife and I travel back and forth between the USA and Portugal and stay in Portugal for 10-20 days each visit. On July 05, 2022 (writing this on July 10, 2023) we bought a used car from this dealership. We paid 23900 euros for it and it had about 45k km when we bought it. The next day we left for the USA and returned about 1 month later and began to drive the car. Within 2 days of driving the car it was evident it has an issue with the clutch and / or transmission. We brought it in for service and we were told the clutch would slip if it was forced and that we would know when the clutch is bad. Fast forward to the next trip and we get stuck on the highway with a broken clutch. It is now about 6-7 visits to the dealership, 10k km and just over 1 year later and we still are having the same issue. Other than the service department leaving the clutch oil cap off after a repair and the corrosive clutch oil spilling all over the engine, wires and electrical components, the service department has tried every time to fix the problem. Not that the guarantee coves our lost time but imagine buying a car to use on vacation / family visits and you spend at least 2 days each trip at the dealership and can't travel too far because the car doesn't work properly. We have another service appointment on Thursday July 13, 2023 and we will see if they can fix it properly. We will update this after Thursday's service because today's trade in offer, made by their sales department, of 17500 euros is ridiculously low.July 20 2023 update.We returned to the USA and the car was still being repaired. On July 24, 2023 we were told the car is ready and our friends picked up the car and delivered it back to our garage. Since we are in the USA, we can't comment on the actual repair until when we return in mid to late September 2023. The service person did call and confirmed our faulty clutch complaint and stated they replaced the parts again but with original, as we say OEM, parts and not aftermarket parts. We will update in September.***** SEPTEMBER 18, 2023 UPDATE ***** We returned to Portugal yesterday and drove the car. The clutch finally appears to be normal. We raised our overall review for the entire dealership from 1 to 3. The service department stood behind their repeated faulty work and mistakes but continued attempted repairs, at our expense, until they finally fixed the problem. For this reason we give the service department an overall rating of 3 but a 5 for effort and 5 for politeness. All employees of the service department were professional even though this repair was covered under the initial guarantee and therefore not paid for, with money, by us.If possible, we would give the sales department a rating of 0. Overall the initial sales process was easy, as most initial sales are, but when the sales department was presented with a post sale issue, they turned their backs on us and attempted sneaky and unethical practices. Everyone in the upper management was hiding, and would not talk to us when we requested to speak to the person in charge. We even went up to the office area and nobody would accept responsibility to talk with us or come out of their office space.
